What to expect

Day 1

Ride a wave at Bells Beach, located near Torquay on the southern coast of Victoria in the Great Ocean Road region. Head to Bells Beach over the Easter weekend and watch the world’s best surfers carve up the waves at the Rip Curl Pro Surfing Competition. High cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop to the natural amphitheatre of the beach and large swells from the Southern Ocean, which slow down and steepen over the reef-strewn shallows, create the outstanding surf.

Split Point Lighthouse will introduce you to a life of maritime responsibility, engineering perfection, a pristine Marine Sanctuary, cultural connections, the famous setting for the TV series ‘Round the Twist’ and ‘MASTERCHEF’ as well as stunning, ever-changing 360 degree coastal vistas.

Stop by the Memorial Arch, which is made out of wood, with the sides being made out of stone and cement for support. The first arch that was erected weighed in at 50 tonnes. The arch was put up in 1939, and was replaced a few more times over the decades, including a time when a truck ran into the side of the arch, and another new arch was created in 1983 when bush fires set it ablaze ruining the monument. In the 1970’s, the government had plans to take the Memorial Arch down, as they saw it as a hazard to drivers, but it was shot down as it was considered a lack of respect for the returned soldiers of World War I.

Lunch at Lorne– a seaside town on Louttit Bay in Victoria, Australia

Visit Kennett River, which is located 2.5 hours from Melbourne in the middle of the most spectacular stretch of the internationally famous Great Ocean Road, half way between Lorne and Apollo Bay. The Great Otway National Park surrounds Kennett River making a beautiful backdrop.

Apollo Bay check in for overnight stay. Drive one of the world’s most scenic coastal touring routes, the Great Ocean Road, spanning 243 kilometres along the stunning coastline of Victoria’s south-west. Take in the panoramic views as the road winds along cliff tops, up to breathtaking headlands, down onto the edge of beaches, across river estuaries and through lush rainforests. Outside Apollo Bay the road winds through the centre of the Great Otway National Park with its beautiful untouched rainforests, before returning to hug the coast for the entire length of the Port Campbell National Park. This is the most famous section of the Great Ocean Road featuring an amazing collection of rock formations known as the 12 Apostles which have been carved out of the headland by the fierce waves of the Southern Ocean.

After check in Apollo Bay, we will stop by to see Glow Worm.

Day 2

Check out & Depart from Apollo bay.

Drive through the Great Otway National Park. Visit Otway Fly Tree Top Adventures. Otway Fly Treetop Adventures takes your rainforest experience to new heights in the lush surrounds of the magnificent Otway Ranges.Whether you’re soaking up the breath-taking birds-eye view of the rainforest on the Treetop Walk or soaring through the leafy treetops on the awe-inspiring Zipline Tour.

Arrive at Port Campbell and have lunch. Port Campbell is a place to slow down – and take in everything that epitomises the Great Ocean Road. You can explore local history, wander the beaches, enjoy boutique accommodation and dine on the  great regional food. Stop at the Grotto. Spray from waves can cast a fine mist over the low viewing area; sunshine does the rest filling the air with rainbow delights.

Continue driving on the Great Ocean Road and arrive at the Arch which perches precariously mounted on a harder rock platform proud of the water in small to medium swell. In large swells its formation becomes more evident as waves mount the platform, thick heavy tomes gliding sleekly through the opening and cascading out the other side.

Witness the rugged splendour of the famous 12 Apostles, magnificent rock stacks that rise up majestically from the Southern Ocean on Victoria’s dramatic coastline. Created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs of the mainland beginning 10–20 million years ago, the stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs.
